My Toshiba Laptop Won't Boot Up & Is Looping

Updated February 21, 2017

Toshiba laptops run the Windows 7 operating system. If you have a Toshiba laptop that isn't booting properly or is looping during the start-up, you can use the Windows Recovery Console to fix your boot files. When boot files aren't working right, your computer will not be able to access the hard drive's operating system. Repairing the boot files will give you the ability to boot your computer properly.

Put your Windows 7 installation disc into the DVD drive of your Toshiba laptop and then boot the laptop.

Press any key on your keyboard when you are prompted. Select your language and your time when you are prompted. Select your currency and the keyboard you are using when you are prompted. Click "Next" on the screen.

Click on "Repair your computer" in the next window. Select your Windows 7 operating system from the menu and then click on the "Next" button.

Click "Command Prompt" in the next window and then type "bootrec.exe" into the prompt. Press the "Enter" button and then type "/FixBoot" into the next window.

Wait for the computer to fix your boot files and then restart the computer automatically.
