Going to school not only involves carrying school supplies and books to and from school, but from class to class as well. Revamp old jeans and silk scarves to create a unique school bag for carrying your supplies. Use stencils, ink pens and waterproof markers along with your choice of fabric embellishments to design a casual school bag that is not only functional but matches your personality, too.

Things you need
- Old pair of jeans
- Fabric glue
- 6 safety pins
- Waterproof markers
- Ink pens
- Embellishments, such as rhinestones, key rings, small chains, and buttons
- Old belt
- Silk scarf, 60-inch by 12-inch
Turn the jeans inside out. Cut through the material across the legs 2 inches below the zipper, completely cutting off the legs.
Apply a line of fabric glue along the right side of the fabric you just cut. Press the cut edges together. Pin the glued edge with the safety pins to reinforce the glued seam. Allow the glue to dry.
Turn the jeans right-side out. Zip the zipper and button the waistband.
Draw a rough sketch of the school bag on a piece of paper, using a pencil. Sketch where you would like to place the stencils, such as on the pockets or open areas where there is space to accommodate a design. Sketch where you would like to place the embellishments. Use the sketch as a guide when placing the stencil and embellishments on the material.
Position the stencil on the jeans. Hold it in place with your fingers so it doesn't move. Use the markers and ink pens to trace around the openings on the stencil. Reposition the stencil to other areas on the jeans using your sketch as a guide. Colour in the designs using the markers and pens.
Decorate your school bag with fabric embellishments according to your sketch. Glue on the rhinestones, attach the key rings and chains, and pin on the decorative buttons.
Thread an old belt through the belt loops and buckle the belt in the front of jeans.
Thread one end of the silk scarf through the side belt loop at the waistband. Tie the scarf securely to the loop. Thread the other end of the scarf through the belt loop on the opposite side and hold it securely. Place the scarf over your head and allow it to rest comfortably on your shoulder. Adjust the length of the scarf to fit your body. Tie the scarf to the belt loop to complete your school bag.
