Although grey hair is usually a sign of a long, productive life, occasionally premature grey hairs crop up. These grey hairs can be a result of improper nutrients in your body or weak, improperly stimulated hair follicles. If you are experiencing grey hairs before your time, there are ways that you can not only get rid of the discoloured hairs you already have but can also prevent more from growing at all. These steps can help restore the growth of healthy, coloured hair to your scalp.

  • Food with protein
  • Foods with iodine
  • Vitamin supplement
  • Amla powder
  • Fenugreek powder
  • Saucepan
  • Coconut oil
  • Fine sieve
  • Bottle

    Add foods that are filled with protein to your diet. Lean poultry, soy, fish and cottage cheese are all excellent sources of protein.

    Eat foods with iodine in them, like carrots and spinach. Most people do not get enough iodine in their diets, so check the labels on packaged foods for good sources of iodine.

    Start taking a vitamin supplement to ensure you are getting your daily requirements. You should take a supplement that contains vitamins A and B, as well as iron, copper and zinc.

    Mix two parts amla powder to each part fenugreek powder in a saucepan. For example, if you use 1 teaspoon of fenugreek, use 2 teaspoons of amla.

    Add coconut oil to the mixed powders until you have a thick paste. Cook it on a low flame until the mixture starts to smoke slightly.

    Pour the mixture through a fine sieve and store it in a bottle. Keep the bottle in the shower where you keep your soaps.

    Apply the amla paste to your head and gently massage it into your scalp before you take a shower. Work the paste in for 10 to 15 minutes before rinsing it out.

    Prepare a shake of 1 cup buttermilk, 2 teaspoons of wheat germ and 2 teaspoons of yeast. Drink one of these shakes every day.

  • Talk to your doctor about a healthy exercise routine that will help you keep your stress levels low, as stress can cause premature greying.
  • It is possible that these instructions may have no affect on your grey hair if there is a different problem with your hair follicles.
