Though gaming systems are typically connected to televisions, it is possible to connect a Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3) to a laptop monitor. Connecting a PS3 to a laptop monitor allows you to experience high-level video games in a portable setting and without the use of a large TV. Connect the audio/video cables to the computer and PS3. Computer inputs will vary, but if you have an HDMI port, use an HDMI cable as the connector. Other cables (S-video, component or DVI) will suffice, but HDMI offers the highest information transfer and will, thus, give the greatest quality of gaming experience.
Turn on the PlayStation 3. Wait for the system to load up before moving forward.
Open the video software you just installed. When the PS3 home screen appears on the laptop screen, the connection is complete. Stop using the computer controls and continue navigation with the PS3.
