- Paper towels
- Hairspray or rubbing alcohol
- Laundry stain remover
- Dry-cleaning solvent
- Liquid laundry detergent
Moisten a paper towel with water. Dab the water onto the ink stain.
Saturate the ink stain with hairspray. If you do not have hairspray available, use rubbing alcohol.
Situate the ink-stained portion of the shirt between two paper towels. Sandwiching the stain between the paper towels will prevent the ink from bleeding onto unaffected areas of the clothing.
Blot the ink stain with the paper towel that is on the underside of the shirt, working from the back side of the stain. Apply more hairspray, if necessary. Continue blotting, switching to clean portions of the paper towel as it becomes covered with ink, until no more ink transfers from the shirt to the paper towel.
Saturate the ink stain with a laundry stain remover such as Shout or Spray 'n Wash. Wash the shirt as usual. Inspect the shirt for any traces of ink prior to placing it in the dryer.
Use dry-cleaning solvent if the ink stain remains on the shirt. Moisten a clean rag with dry-cleaning solvent and sponge it onto the stain. Continue blotting the stain until no more ink comes out of the shirt.
Rinse the shirt thoroughly with plain water. Drizzle liquid laundry detergent directly onto the affected area of the shirt. Rub it in with your fingers and allow it to sit on the stain overnight.
Rinse the shirt the next day. Apply a laundry stain remover and wash the shirt as usual.
