Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro, one of the latest versions of the powerful PDF editing program, requires a serial number key for installation. The key is typically found on the packaging when purchased (or through an e-mail if downloaded). However, if the program is already installed and you cannot find the serial number, it is possible to obtain it with a product key code search program.

Things you need
- Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro
- User manual packaging
- E-mail received from Adobe
- Product key code program
Look over the packaging of the Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro program. The key code is typically found either on the user manual, or on a small cardboard card included with the program.
Open up the e-mail you received from Adobe after the online download purchase. The serial number code is listed inside the e-mail.
Install a serial number recovery key program onto the computer if you cannot find the key code. These such programs scan the hard drive for installed keys used on the system. Several are available for free download through CNET.com, such as "Product Key Finder," "Windows Product Key Viewer" and "Magical Jelly Bean KeyFinder."
Launch the recovery key program. Select the "full scan" feature, then wait for the program to completely scan the hard drive. As it scans, file keys will appear in the program window. Eventually the Adobe key appears (it states "Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro" as the program it is used with). Write this key down for future reference, then exit the program.
