A nice addition to a mitre saw is a laser that shows you exactly where the saw blade is cutting into your material. Unlike a pencil mark on the piece of material you are cutting, a laser will always be clearly visible to you as you work. Many newer models of mitre saws come with the ability to add on various types of lasers. Older-model mitre saws do not have this capability, but there is a laser that will work on most mitre saws and requires no special tools to install.

Instructions

  1. 1

Purchase a blade-mount laser guide from a major home improvement centre or a power tool supply shop. Blade-mount laser guides replace the outer washer on your mitre saw.

  2. 2

Unplug you mitre saw power cord from the electrical socket. Raise the power head completely up. Remove the bolt securing the saw blade with a socket wrench.

  3. 3

Remove the outside washer. Replace the washer with the blade-mount laser guide. Insert the blade mounting bolt through the centre of the laser guide and the saw blade. Tighten with a socket wrench.
