How to Steam Clean for Scabies

Updated July 20, 2017

Scabies, also known as itch mites, are tiny insects that attach themselves to flesh and bite, creating a itchy sensation on the skin's surface. Scabies are easily passed from human to human, and most people who have contracted them are not aware they have them until a rash and itch develops. The insect will multiply rapidly if not eradicated, and it is important to clean furniture, carpet and clothing to ensure you have got all of the insects. Hot water produced by steam is very effective in ridding the home of the bothersome pests.

Fill a steam cleaner with water to the fill line and add 1 tbsp of Dawn dish soap.

Plug in the steam cleaner and give it time to heat up.

Run the steam cleaner over your furniture and carpet, getting the steam into any cracks and crevices.

Wipe excess moisture from steam off of the furniture with a dry rag.

Things You'll Need
