Creating a gallery in your home of family photos and mementos is a beautiful way to showcase your most precious memories. Picture ledges in many different styles are easily constructed using ordinary moulding. Depending on the style you wish to accomplish, there are four different types of moulding that would be appropriate for use. After constructing the pictures ledges, they can then be primed and painted or stained to match the interior of your room.

Casing is a type of moulding that is normally used to trim around windows and doors in a home. Casing comes in a variety of styles and widths to match your home's decor.

Crown Molding

Crown moulding is normally used to create a very dramatic look in a home. It is added to the walls just below the ceiling to give a custom look to a standard room. It is typically more substantial than the other types of moulding and comes in a variety of larger widths.

Base Molding

Base moulding is typically used to create baseboards in a home. It is used to protect the bottom of the walls from damage.

Chair Rail Molding

Chair rail moulding is an ornamental type of moulding that is installed roughly 3 feet from the floor to give formal style to a room.
