  1. 1

Harden the wax. Apply ice cubes directly to the surface of the wax to further harden it.

  2. 2

Scrape off the beeswax. With a plastic or wooden scraper or the back of a butter knife, scrape off as much of the beeswax as possible.

  3. 3

Apply a little lemon oil to a soft cloth and use it to scrub the remaining residue, if it is a hard surface. The lemon oil will dissolve the remaining beeswax and lift it right off.

  4. 4

Lay a clean paper towel or brown paper bag over the remaining beeswax residue, if it is on fabric or carpeting. Slowly iron over the paper. The beeswax will melt and the paper will absorb it. Move the paper as it becomes saturated so you're always ironing over a clean area of the paper.

  5. 5

Sprinkle baking soda on the carpeted area where you have removed the beeswax and allow to sit overnight. Vacuuming should remove any trace of the beeswax. For fabric, apply dry cleaning fluid or lighter fluid to remove any stain remaining after you have removed the beeswax.

  6. 6

Remove any remaining trace of wax or grease. Polish furniture or floors as usual. Launder clothes or table linens.

Tips and warnings

  • Put smaller items directly into your freezer to harden beeswax.
  • Dry cleaning fluid and lighter fluid are highly flammable. Keep away from fire or flame.
