Sometimes the signal strength on a wireless router is weak because of interference. Some things that can interfere with a signal include walls and televisions. If the signal for your wireless router is weak, you can change the channel for the router and try to find one with a stronger signal. If you have a Belkin Wireless G Router, it takes only a little time to change the wireless channel.

Skill level:

  1. 1

Use an Ethernet cable to connect your computer to one of the LAN ports located on the back of the router.

  2. 2

Turn on your computer and open an Internet browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox.

  3. 3

Type "" in the address bar of the browser and press the "Enter" key. This will take you to a page labelled "Router Setup Utility."

  4. 4

Click the "Login" link on the set-up page and under the "Wireless" menu, select "Channel and SSID."

  5. 5

Click the drop-down box next to "Wireless Channel" and select a channel from the list.

  6. 6

Enter a name for your network in the SSID box and click "Apply Changes." The channel for your Belkin router should now be changed.
