How to Change the Channel on a Belkin Wireless G Router

Sometimes the signal strength on a wireless router is weak because of interference. Some things that can interfere with a signal include walls and televisions. If the signal for your wireless router is weak, you can change the channel for the router and try to find one with a stronger signal. If you have a Belkin Wireless G Router, it takes only a little time to change the wireless channel.

    Use an Ethernet cable to connect your computer to one of the LAN ports located on the back of the router.

    Turn on your computer and open an Internet browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox.

    Type "http://192.168.2.1" in the address bar of the browser and press the "Enter" key. This will take you to a page labelled "Router Setup Utility."

    Click the "Login" link on the set-up page and under the "Wireless" menu, select "Channel and SSID."

  5. 5

    Click the drop-down box next to "Wireless Channel" and select a channel from the list.

  6. 6

    Enter a name for your network in the SSID box and click "Apply Changes." The channel for your Belkin router should now be changed.
