How to Change the Keyboard on an IPhone

Updated February 21, 2017

By default, the keyboard tool on your Apple iPhone is set to English - US, but it can be changed to 42 other languages. Language changes can be made in the iPhone's keyboard settings, including the option of having multiple languages on or just a single, primary language. Once the language has been changed, you can view the additional keys on the keyboard in your Safari, Messages and Notes applications.

Press the "Home" button on your iPhone, and tap the "Settings" icon on the home screen.

Tap the "General" tab, and tap the "Keyboard" tab.

Slide your finger across the switches in the Keyboard screen to adjust auto-correction, auto-capitalisation, caps lock and shortcuts. Tap the "International Keyboards" tab to change your language.

Slide your finger over the "OFF" switch to turn on a specific language, and slide your finger over the switch to turn it off. Tap the "Home" button on your iPhone to save the changes and exit out of preferences.
