A Swiss Army alcohol stove is a lightweight, convenient alternative to a traditional propane-fuelled camping stove. An alcohol stove takes up less room in your camping pack than a regular stove. The stove is heated with alcohol, which is clean-burning. Despite its small size, an alcohol stove can boil a pot of water and heat it for an hour. The Swiss Army META 50 stove is packed inside a pot and a lid that are made for cooking on the stove.

Remove all parts of the Swiss Army alcohol stove from the case. The META 50 stove is compacted into a tin pot.
Place a burner inside the top of the stove piece with the holes around its bottom. This is the base of the stove. The META 50 set does not come with a burner, but you can buy one at a camping supply store.
Remove the cap on the burner and pour alcohol into the burner. You only need a few ounces of alcohol, depending on how much cooking you plan to do.
Place the small end of the metal piece with the hole at the bottom over the burner. This piece looks like the case the Swiss Army stove is packed in, but it does not have a bottom. Now put together the three-part stove: The base of the stove should have the burner inside and the metal piece should be on top of the burner.
Light the alcohol with a match when you are ready to cook. The main case the stove came in is meant to be used as a pot, and it will fit right in the top of the stove. Pour water or soup into the pot to heat it. Use the lid of the case to cover the pot and help it heat up faster.
