Motor mounts on a Subaru Impreza are small rubber fittings at the bottom of the engine on the right and left sides. The motor mounts stop the engine from moving around while the engine is running and keep the engine mounted to the frame of the engine compartment. Without engine mounts that are in working condition, you risk serious damage to the engine, engine compartment, and all engine components.

Skill level:

Things you need

  • Car jack
  • Jack stands
  • Ratchet set
  • New motor mounts

  1. 1

Raise the front end of the Subaru Impreza with the car jack and rest it onto two jack stands.

  2. 2

Place the car jack under the engine block in the centre and raise the engine block 1 inch to take the weight off of the motor mounts.

  3. 3

Remove the bolt that is in the centre of the motor mount using the ratchet set. Pull the bolt out of the motor mount and set it aside.

  4. 4

Pull the motor mount out of its fitting and set it aside.

  5. 5

Insert the new motor mount into the motor mount fitting and insert the bolt into the motor mount. Tighten the bolt, securing the motor mount in place on the frame of the Subaru Impreza.
