How to Open the Slot Cover of an Acer Desktop PC Case

Updated February 21, 2017

If you are planning to upgrade your Acer computer, you will first need to know how to open the case and the slot cover. To add a second hard drive, replace the current hard drive or fix the optical drive, you will need to open the case and look inside. Opening the slot cover of your Acer PC is not difficult, but it is important to use the proper procedures.

Turn off your computer and unplug the power cord from the back of the unit. Allow the PC to sit for a few minutes to make sure the electricity has dissipated before you attempt to open the case.

Remove the two screws on the side panel and slide the panel back and off the case.

Locate the tabs on the front panel of the computer and push them down with your fingers. The front of the case will snap off and reveal the front of the hard drive, the optical drive, the USB ports and other slots.
