Serotonin is a neurotransmitter found in the brain. It affects things such as mood, appetite, sleep and memory. Combine calcium and magnesium for maximum effectiveness, 500 mg of each twice a day. St. John's wort, an herbal supplement, has been shown to increase serotonin levels without many of the side effects of antidepressants. Try 300 mg of St. John's wort three times a day.
