If your cat misses the litter box or simply decides your plywood floor is a nicer place to go, you'll be stuck with an awful urine smell that's so potent, it seems impossible to get rid of. Many commercial products claim that they can get the smell out. Some can, but they often contain harsh chemicals that might not leave your nice floors looking so hot. Luckily, there's a safe, effective and pet-friendly alternative that will leave your floors smelling like new.

  • Large towel
  • Warm water
  • White vinegar
  • Mop bucket
  • Standard mop

    Using a large towel, remove all wet urine from your plywood floor.

    Mix warm water and white vinegar in your mop bucket at a ratio of three parts water to one part vinegar.

    Dip your mop into the bucket and wring out slightly before cleaning the floor with the water and white vinegar mixture.

    Rinse the plywood floor once with just warm water and allow it to dry naturally.

Tips and warnings

  • Before mixing the vinegar and water, open the windows in the room you're cleaning to allow the vinegar smell to air out faster.
