The IKEA Klippan loveseat cover is 100% cotton, which makes dyeing it a simple process. The easiest way to do so is to use a regular washing machine and fabric dye available in the craft section of many stores. A common example is RIT dye. According to the RIT dye website, an item as large as a loveseat cover will require 4 packages of powder dye or 2 bottles of liquid dye.

  1. 1

Adjust the wash temperature of the washing machine to hot and select the largest load size available on the machine. Begin a load cycle and allow the washing machine to fill with water. Keep the lid of the washing machine open during this time.

  2. 2

Remove the IKEA Klippan loveseat cover from the loveseat and place it in the filled washing machine. Push the loveseat cover down to ensure that the entire cover is wet.

  3. 3

Dissolve the powder fabric dye in 2 cups of hot water and slowly add to the washing machine. If you are using liquid dye, you can add the dye directly to the machine without diluting it.

  4. 4

Close the lid and allow the washer to agitate for 2 to 3 minutes. Then open the lid to stop the agitation, and allow the fabric to sit in the washer for one hour.

  5. 5

Close the lid of the washing machine and allow the cycle to run its course.

  6. 6

Repeat the rinse cycle of your washing machine several times until the water runs clear.

  7. 7

Remove the IKEA Klippan loveseat cover from the washing machine and place it in the dryer or hang the cover outside to dry.
