Liquid solders are most often used to bond metal and other strong materials such as concrete. As they are strong and water-resistant adhesives, liquid solders are the heavy-duty adhesive of choice among many contractors and metal-workers.
Decide whether liquid solder in a tube or a can is better for your purposes. Cans are suggested for greater areas of adherence, while a tube can accomplish smaller jobs without tons of excess glue.
Examine the surfaces you are planning on bonding together. For the liquid solder to work the best, the surfaces should be clean, dry, and smooth.
Apply the adhesive. If you are using solder from a tube, it can be applied directly from the tube. If you are using it from a can, you should use a wooden stick or paddle to apply it to your surface. Applying liquid solder to both surfaces can be unnecessary, and usually only one surface needs to be coated.
Clamp the two surfaces together tightly for twenty minutes. By then, the glue should have bonded, although it will probably not reach its maximum strength for another twenty-four hours.
Apply acetone to the bonded surfaces if you wish to release the bond. The acetone will dissolve the compounds bonding the surfaces together. Acetone can be found in many nail polish removers, which are available at drugstores.
Since the adhesive is not at full strength for hours after it has dried, the objects that have been bonded together should not be used right away. Ideally, you should wait at least a day until you use the soldered objects.
Liquid solders are generally not recommended for use with electrical connections.
