Neck and Back Pain
Neck and back pain are common complaints. This pain can be caused by medical problems, but often the cause is sleeping on a bad bed. People who do have a medical problem in their back or neck, often find that a bad bed exacerbates the problem.
A Good Bed
A good bed supports the spine, keeping it aligned during sleep. When the spine is not supported properly by a bed, neck and back pain can happen. There is no one bed that is perfect for everyone. Some people find that a soft bed is more comfortable, while others find that a firm bed is more comfortable. When shopping for a bed, lie on the bed for several minutes. Lie on your back, your sides and your stomach. Take notice of how the bed is supporting your neck and back. The bed should feel comfortable, even after you have been resting on it for several minutes.
Good beds turn into bad beds when they get old. A bed that used to be supportive will eventually sag after long-term use. Once a bed starts sagging and no longer feels comfortable, it is time to purchase a new bed. Beds are expensive, but they are an investment in the health of your spine and well being. A good bed provides a restful and pain-free sleep. A bad bed can cause back and neck pain. So even though a new bed is expensive, consider it a priority that encourages good health.
