Thermostatic Shower Repair

Updated February 21, 2017

Enjoying a hot shower can be ruined by a sudden blast of cold water. Household water pressures vary, depending on the water usage at different faucet outlets. Controlling a shower's water temperature can be done with a thermostatic valve.

A thermostatic shower utilises a thermostatic valve within the shower wall to control and balance the water pressure from the hot and cold water outlets. This results in a continuously, uninterrupted water temperature for the person showering.

If a thermostatic valve needs repair, many issues can be resolved with simple troubleshooting. Check to see if there is any blockage at the valve, or at the output of the shower head or tub faucet. Also, verify the thermostatic valve is calibrated to the correct temperature setting or the system may not react as the consumer would like.

Keeping the water temperature constant protects the person showering from accidental scalding. Children and elderly people can easily be burnt from an extreme water temperature change.
