A National & Vocational Qualifications (NVQ) assessor is the job title of someone who works varied hours to assess clients in the workplace for NVQ qualifications. The NVQ assessor can also tutor the client on how to improve his skills to obtain the NVQ. Assessors are quite flexible in the type of working environment, as he can either work from home or as a employee at the office.
NVQ Specialty Areas
You will visit clients in workplace areas such as health care, accounting, finance, early childhood education, construction and human resources. As long as there is a NVQ qualification in a certain area, a NVQ assessor can specialise to give assessments in that area.
The NVQ assessor will also compile training information and give extra training when it is needed. As an assessor you are responsible for creating the learner's portfolio and ensuring it is submitted for evaluation.
The salary range for an NVQ assessor is between £18,000 to £26,000. You will need to have an intermediate to advanced understanding of the speciality you choose as a career. An NVQ assessor will also need to have the D32, D33 or D34 qualifications to qualify as an assessor for more experienced positions. Senior NVQ assessors are required to pass at least the A1 level qualification along with specific training in your speciality, e.g., accounting exams.
