Soloxine is a medication used to treat dogs who have an underactive thyroid. Like all medications, Soloxine can have some side effects when taken by a canine with hypothyroidism.

Consciousness Side Effects

Dogs taking Soloxine may experience sleeping problems, as well as drowsiness.

Intestinal Side Effects

Dogs taking Soloxine may experience a decreased appetite, nausea, vomiting or diarrhoea.

Other Minor Side Effects

Dogs taking Soloxine may develop a cough, rash, or experience dry mouth.

Serious Side Effects

Dogs taking Soloxine could develop more serious side effects that would make it necessary for an owner to call his vet. These include a change in personality, the development of a fever, and a change in weight.

Signs of an Allergic Reaction

If a dog is allergic to Soloxine, she will experience symptoms that are more severe than side effects and will need immediate medical attention. Signs of an allergic reaction include swelling of any part of the mouth or face, difficulty breathing, swelling of her throat or the development of hives.
