How Do I Take Apart a Faucet?

Video transcription

I'm Terry with Towers Murray Plumbing here to show you how to take apart a kitchen faucet. To take apart a faucet you have a couple of different parts to a faucet so depending on what part is giving you problems, for instance the spout can be removed simply by loosening the locknut. Now this locknut is at the bottom of the spout. Some of them will actually be located across the top, unscrew that, lift that spout off. Then you can match up whatever parts you may need. If the problem is in the handle or the cartridge assembly, simply remove your indicator button or index button, remove the handle, of course, here we're taking apart a two handle faucet. It's very similar with a single handle, remove the cartridge. Now this particular cartridge threads in itself. On some of them they'll actually have a separate locknut that holds the cartridge in place. On those you'll remove that locknut and the cartridge will pull out. You can take that down and match it up and then just put it back together in reverse. And again, I'm Terry with Towers Murray Plumbing. We've shown you how to take apart a kitchen faucet.
