How to Make Frequency Tables

Video transcription

Hi, my name is Dave Andrews. Today I'm going to show you how to make a frequency table. We're going to do this in Excel. So let's go to the start button, go to all programs, it's on Microsoft Office, let's just open up Excel. Now frequency table will show you items and a list and the number of times that they appear on that list. So I'm going to type some names. Now, to create our frequency list, all we have to do is total up the number of times that each name, Dave, Tom and William appears on this list. Let's come over to the side here, lets create a little table, say name, we're going to call it frequency right next to that. So we have three names, Dave, Tom and William. Now for Dave, let's count out the number of times that Dave appears in this list, there's once, twice, three times. So next to Dave we'll just say three. Now Tom appears only once, and William appears twice. This is our frequency table that we built from our list. My name is Dave Andrews, and I've just showed you how to create a frequency table.
