Hi, I'm Rachel Yatuzis and I'm going to tell you about removing mildew stains from your carpet. First, you want to make sure the area's really dry and make sure you kill the mildew. You can do this by using one of these commercial carpet cleaners that will suck all of the excess moisture out of your carpet and add some vinegar and water or rubbing alcohol to the stain to make sure you kill all of the mildew and the bacteria. After you've done that, you may be left with a stain and there's a homemade stain remover you can make for your carpet that works just as good as anything on the shelves at the store. If you use a little bit of dish washing liquid and add it to some water. Stir it up really well. You can apply it and scrub it with a toothbrush. If you have mildew, you're probably going to need some sort of brush to scrub it with. And if you want to dampen it really well, use a sponge to dampen the area. Just make sure to scrub it really, really well and you may have to repeat these processes several times. The trick is when you're done, you want to make sure the mildew doesn't come back, so make sure the area is nice and dry. You may have to open a couple of windows in that room or sit a fan beside it. Just make sure you get it super dry so the mildew will not come back. I'm Rachel Yatuzis and that's how you remove mildew stains.
