How to Deactivate the Child Lock on Hotpoint Washing Machines
The General Electric Corp. manufactures many home appliances, such as stoves, refrigerators, dishwashers, microwaves, washers and dryers. Some of these appliances are produced under the Hotpoint name brand, including Hotpoint washing machines.
The washing machines have several features, including variable water, temperature and time cycles. Some Hotpoint washers have a child lock feature that prevents children or other users from operating the machine when the lock is engaged. Unlocking the child lock on a Hotpoint washer is relatively simple.
Turn the Hotpoint washer on.
Press the "Child Lock" button.
Hold the "Child Lock" button for two to three seconds. If the washer does not have a "Child Lock" button, press and hold the "Stop/Cancel" button. The child lock will disengage.
Press and hold the "Child Lock" button or "Stop/Cancel" button for a few seconds to re-engage the lock.
