How to Remove the Cateye TL-LD270 Cover

Updated March 28, 2017

The Cateye TL-LD270 is a small light designed for use with bicycles. A small LED bulb is housed behind a red covering. Three settings allow the light to shine continuously or blink on set patterns, giving drivers the chance to see the cyclists in the dark. Cateye designed the unit to come apart to replace bulbs and batteries.

  1. Remove the TL-LD270 from the bicycle by unscrewing it from the housing.

  2. Hold the light so you have access to the side seams where the two portions of the housing meet. Gently pry one side apart using the edge of the butter knife or the screwdriver.

  3. Pry the opposite side apart and lift the top housing plate off. Pull the red cover straight out to expose the LED bulb.
