  1. Make a list of 10 or 15 names that you like for your business. Send the list to five or six people whom you trust. Ask them which name sounds the best for a bookkeeping business. You may want to ask them if they would know it's a bookkeeping business based on the name they selected. Your associates will provide you with a little insight. This is similar to a poll or survey. Their choices will probably accurately reflect the choices of a larger population. You may want to ask them to recommend a name if they don't like any of your choices.

  2. Choose a catchy name. When you have narrowed your choices, choose a name which is catchy and easy to remember, such as" Betty's bookkeeping", or the "International Bookkeeping Company", (IBC). Sometimes people will start using the acronym to refer to your company, which makes it even easier to remember. If you are not well known, using your own name in the title will give you more exposure.

  3. Find out if the name you have chosen is easily searched on the Internet. You may want to pick a name that can easily be found on the Internet such as "Bookkeeping Services Company". A name such as this will help you with search engine optimisation, (SEO). When someone is searching for your company name on the Internet it helps if it can easily be found. This practice alone can generate a substantial amount of business for you when people start searching the Web for various information.

  4. Include another service that you provide in the business name. If you provide a tax service as well you could name your business, "Bookkeeping and Tax Service", (BATS), which provides another memorable acronym. This could help with the SEO because it also includes tax service in the name.

  5. Make the name as short as possible. When you have a shorter name it leads to fewer spelling errors when someone is searching for your business. Avoid long names such as, "The Prestidigitation Bookkeeping and Accounting Service."

  6. When you have a business, such as bookkeeping, stay away from slick names and slogans, such as "Our results are magical." People want to know that you are all business when it comes to their money and business records. They don't want you to be slight of hand.

  7. Tip

You may want to incorporate the name of your bookkeeping business into your website or blog.
