How to clean magnalite cookware that has been put in the dishwasher

Updated February 21, 2017

Magnalite cookware is made of cast aluminium and is known for its ability to conduct heat evenly over the base of the pots. Although Magnalite cookware comes with a 50 year warranty it must be cared for properly in order to make it last. One of the biggest mistakes that people make in caring for their Magnalite cookware is placing it in the dishwasher. This creates water stains on the pot and can also remove the non-stick finish.

  1. Scour the pot lightly with a fine-grade scrub sponge and a powdered cleaning agent.

  2. Use a paper towel to wipe the inside and outside of the pan with vegetable oil.

  3. Place the pot into an oven heated to 205 degress C (400 degrees F) for approximately 20 minutes. Shut the oven off and allow the pot to sit inside the oven for an additional hour.

  4. Use a silver polishing cloth to remove the remaining water spots from the polished lid and handle of the pot.

  5. Tip

The best way to clean Magnalite cookware is by hand washing with a mild dish washing detergent and water.
