  1. 1

Rip the 3/4-by-48-by-96-inch furniture-grade plywood panel in half to create two 3/4-by-48-by-48-inch plywood sections using a table saw. These are the sides of the corner desk.

  2. 2

Place the sides perpendicular to each other to form a 90-degree angle. Screw through the edge of one side into the other using a screw gun and 2-inch wood screws. Space the screws evenly every three inches.

  3. 3

Place one 3/4-by-48-by-48-inch furniture-grade plywood panel on top of the triangle-shaped side structure. Use a pencil to trace the L-shape outline of the sides onto the bottom side of the 3/4-by-48-by-48-inch furniture-grade plywood panel to form a triangle on the board. Repeat this process for the other two 3/4-by-48-by-48-inch furniture-grade plywood panels. These will form the work surface, top and bottom parts of the corner desk.

  4. 4

Cut the triangles out of the 3/4-by-48-by-48-inch furniture-grade plywood panels with a table saw. Place one on top of the side structure. This is the bottom. Fasten the bottom to the side structure with 2-inch screws and a screw gun.

  5. 5

Turn the side structure over so that the desk is upright. Place another triangle on top of the side structure. This is the top. Fasten the top to the side structure with 2-inch screws and a screw gun.

  6. 6

Position the final triangle up 28 inches from the bottom of the desk. This is the work surface. Screw from the back of the sides into the edges of the work surface to secure it.

  7. 7

Place four 3/4-by-12-by-12-inch furniture-grade plywood panels together to form a box. Fasten the sides to the ends using 2-inch screws and a screw gun. Repeat this procedure to make three more boxes. These are the compartments for the desk.

  8. 8

Place the four box compartments on the underside of the top of the box. Place two boxes against each side. Secure the box compartments by screwing two screws up through the top of the box compartment into the top of the corner desk.

  9. 9

Sand the entire surface of the corner desk with fine-grit sandpaper. Apply a wood finish. Allow the finish to dry according to the instructions on the finish container.

Tips and warnings

  • If you need more storage, create more compartments along the back side of the work surface.
