Hi I'm Stan DeFreitas, Mr. Green Thumb for On Gardening. We talk about bananas, bananas are one of the best fruits in the tropics. And why? Well they're good for you, they're tasty, and if you want to know more about what is, well we're going to tell you. The banana of course is one of those plants that is easy to grow, this just happens to be one of the double Mahoi. A double Mahoi actual come up with two distinct heads, with two banana stalks at the same time. And that's kind of unusual with bananas. This one is a desert quality, and you see the foliage is attractive. It's got like a little bit of green with a nice reddish tinge to it. So it makes it a landscape plant as well as an edible plant. And I've grown these in large containers, you can grow them in something like the earth box, or you can grow it in a large container and have good results. This is the as we say double Mahoi, what we've got over here is called grand manes. Now this is sometimes called the Chiquita banana, because it's the same banana that you buy in the store. Now both of these are dwarf plants, they'll only get about six to eight feet tall, but they're going to give you, this one's going to give you full size bananas like you buy and good results. Remember of course a banana's full sun, good fertilizer on a regular basis and make sure they have a good deal of moisture. Bananas are easy to grow and you'll enjoy them.
