Hi, I'm Rachel Yatuzis and I'm going to show you how to clean silver using baking soda. Get a bowl or a pan or something that you have lying around your kitchen and line it with aluminum foil that's crumpled a little bit. You can use an aluminum pan but only if you don't plan on using it to cook anymore. Next put your silver on top of the aluminum foil, set it in there, whether it be jewelry, whatever. Sprinkle a thin layer of baking soda, that's a thick layer, but sprinkle a thin layer, it really doesn't matter. Have some water boiling, get the boiling water and pour it over the silver and baking soda. It will start bubbling and it will make a smell, it smells sort of like rotten eggs. Next turn the silver over and make sure that the silver touches the aluminum foil. Every surface of the silver that touches the aluminum foil will become shiny. If you have jewelry or something like that, don't use a metal utensil to turn the jewelry around, you want to use a wooden or plastic utensil to do that. As you can see, any surface of the silver that touches the aluminum during this process will be shiny. You just keep working with it and you'll end up with a nice shiny piece of silver. My name is Rachel Yatuzis and that is how you clean silver using baking soda.
