Performance improvements for the Yamaha FJR1300 include improvements to the bike's engine and shocks. Making improvements to the engine will raise horsepower, acceleration and torque but may sacrifice fuel economy. Upgrading the shocks will aid in braking and help give a smoother ride at higher speeds. Some of these improvements can be easily performed at home while others may require professional installation.

Fuel Controller

You can adjust the performance of the bike to your specifications by precisely controlling the fuel to air ratio in its engine cylinders. By adding more fuel and air, you will get a better ignition and more power. Two Brothers Racing makes a product they call the "Juice Box" (model 001-156 for the FJR1300). This device lets you raise the richness of the fuel mixture by as much as 250 per cent.

High Flow Air Filter

Allowing the engine to more easily take in air increases the horsepower and torque of the bike. Higher flowing colder air allows the engine to increase the compression in its cylinders. This boosts power without sacrificing fuel economy. K&N makes a high flow air filter for the Yamaha FJR1300 model YA-1301.

Performance Shocks

There are several types of performance shocks available for the FJR1300. One such product is the 3D Shock Emulsion (Model YA13-0AA) from Hyperpro. This Dutch company makes shocks with progressive springs. It claims its springs are superior at absorbing small bumps in the road and improving braking ability. Another option is the product line of shocks from --hlins.
