Altoids are mints that come in distinct, hinge-operated metal tins. First released in 1780, Altoids were originally marketed as stomach-relief tablets. With the motto "Curiously Strong Mints," Altoids have become popular across the globe. The most common flavour is peppermint, but Altoids also come in wintergreen, spearmint, ginger, liquorice, honey and Creme de Menthe. There are also "Altoid Smalls," which are smaller than standard Altoids. In addition to breath mints, another Altoid variation is fruit-flavoured candies.
