Use polished stones to create a variety of decorative crafts. Polished stones are created when rocks are tumbled to a smooth and shiny surface. Types of polished stones include rose quartz, carnelian, moonstone, sodalite, tiger's eye, hematite, amethyst, black obsidian, agate, crystal and fluorite. Many semi-precious stones are known for their spiritual and healing powers.

Polished Stone Ring

Design an artistic-looking ring using any type of polished stone. If you are creating a one-of-a-kind gift, choose a stone based on the recipient's favourite colour. Pick an elegant purple amethyst or pink quartz stone and use a hot glue gun to attach it to an adjustable metal ring. Choose a stone with a flat back so it will securely adhere to the metal. Look for a silver or gold ring base featuring a flat top.

Stone-enhanced Plant Pot

Transform a plain pot into colourful home or porch decor. Choose a basic terracotta or ceramic plant pot. Use a hot glue gun to attach a variety of polished stones around the rim of the pot. The stones can be arranged to form flower designs or names. If you will be displaying the pot in a sun room or porch, use vibrant yellow and orange stones for a summer-inspired look.

Polished Stone Candle Holder

A polished stone candle holder will make a thoughtful gift for any occasion. Fill a medium square or round clear glass vase with a handful of polished stones. Use brown and gold-flecked agate for a rustic, natural look or black obsidian for a sophisticated style. Nestle a votive into the stones so that it is held securely in place. Choose a votive colour that complements the stones, such as a burnt orange candle with agates or a white or red candle with obsidian.

Stone-decorated Picture Frame

Decorate a picture frame with polished stones. Glue colour-changing moonstones to a clear frame for an elegant look. Enhance a wooden frame with red jasper and green aventurine to create Christmas decor. Exotic tiger's eye or blue lace agate stones will look stunning against a black frame. Once the frame is decorated, fill it with a special image and give it to a friend as a creative gift.
