The main character, Niko, in "Grand Theft Auto IV" can become intoxicated whenever he goes to the bar and purchases a few drinks. As soon as Niko comes out of the bar, the gameplay will be different. In "drunk mode," the camera shakes and makes it difficult to do anything. It is almost impossible to get Niko to walk straight without him falling down. Driving a car in a straight line is equally difficult. Just as in real life, the only way to make the drunk effect wear off is to give it time. There are a few ways to make the drunk mode less dangerous until it passes.

Skill level:

  1. 1

Stand still outside of the bar. Standing still will assure you that you will not fall over or get hurt while in drunk mode. This the safest option while getting rid of the drunk mode effect.

  2. 2

Walk around outside the front of the bar. Don't try to walk to fast or you will fall down. Walking around will give you something to do until the effect wears off.

  3. 3

Find a nearby car and get inside. Sit inside the car, without driving, until the drunk mode wears off. The car you drove to the bar should still be outside and it will be the safest to enter. Trying to enter cars that are not yours can draw negative attention from the police or the person who owns the car.

Tips and warnings

  • Do not attempt to drive a car while in drunk mode. Controlling the car becomes incredibly difficult. Walking too fast will cause Niko to fall over. "Grand Theft Auto IV" contains a great deal of violence and profane language.
