XML schema mapping is a new feature of Excel 2003 that allows developers to link database data directly to an Excel workbook. Data from a database stored as XML can be imported directly into an Excel workbook once that data is mapped. XML data can also be easily exported from an Excel map. A reference to an Excel workbook, the "XMLMaps" object, an XML schema file, and an XML data file are all that is needed to display XML data in Excel.

Use the "Add" method of the XMLMaps collection to create a new XMLMap object from an XML spreadsheet.
Import the XML data with the "importXML" method of the XMLMap object. Provide the XML data stream to the "importXML" method.
Export data from the Excel map to an XML file using the "exportXML" method of the XMLMap object.
