Measure the circumference of your waist just slightly below the belly button with a soft measuring tape. Place your pinky finger just below your belly button and place one end of the measuring tape just below your finger. Wrap the measuring tape around your waist and back to the end of the tape underneath your belly button. Cut a piece of soft jewellery wire three inches longer than your waist measurement. If you would like the belly chain to sit higher on your natural waistline, measure from just above your belly button instead of just below.
Thread one end of the wire through a crimp bead and onto a toggle clasp. Thread the end of the wire back through the crimp bead and use crimping pliers or needle nose pliers to squeeze the crimp bead closed.
Thread the crystal or metallic seed beads onto the wire. Make a pattern using different coloured beads or different size beads. Continue adding beads until you reach approximately 1 1/2 inches from the end of the wire.
Hold onto the end of the chain and wrap it around your waist to make sure it fits properly.
Thread a crimp bead onto the wire and then another toggle clasp. Thread the wire back through the crimp bead and cut off all but 1/4-inch of wire. Squeeze the crimp bead closed with the pliers and thread the 1/4-inch of wire back through the seed beads next to the crimp bead.
Cut a 2-inch-long piece of soft jewellery wire. Thread a crimp bead onto one end, run the end of the wire through a jump ring and thread it back through the crimp ring. Pinch it closed with needle nose or crimping pliers.
Thread five crystal seed beads onto the wire. Alternatively, thread a large decorative bead onto the wire instead.
Thread the wire through a crimp ring, then through a jump ring and back through the crimp ring. Squeeze the crimp ring shut with the pliers.
Attach a small dangling pendant onto the last jump ring attached. Attach the bead and pendant-covered wire to the clip-on earring using the other jump ring.
Glue a small crystal or imitation gemstone onto the front of the clip-on earring using super glue. Let the glue dry for 20 to 30 minutes before wearing.
