How to make furniture for a fairy house
Add bits of shiny crystal to attract fairies travelling at night. (fairy moon image by Paul Moore from

Furnish your fairy house to suit the needs of the fairies you wish to attract. Every season offers different materials for constructing fairy furniture. In the spring, make sofas and chairs of blossoms for a flower fairy. Use colourful ribbons to make a canopy for a rainbow fairy's bed. Use an autumn pine cone to make an intricate workroom for a practical fairy engineer. Sculpt a banquet table out of snow to furnish the elusive frost fairies' winter banquet hall.

  1. 1

Turn a small magnolia leaf over and fill the cup shaped leaf with soft dandelion down. Add a rose petal pillow and a large leaf for a coverlet. Stick a forked stick into the ground at the head of the bed so that one branch is over the bed. Tie thin ribbons to this stick so that they trail over the bed as a canopy.

  2. 2

Create a work rack for an industrious inventor fairy by pulling most of the scales from a pine cone. Leave a ring around the bottom to support the cone and a ring midway up, for a work surface. A few random scales near the top of the cone will be useful as racks and shelves.

  3. 3

Sculpt a long table from snow. Pat the top until it is firm and flat. Set this table with acorn cap cups and clusters of berries on bark platters.

  4. 4

Set up an azalea blossom as a chair for a flower fairy. Use a yellow dandelion flower for a footstool. Tie this conversation area together with a fuzzy leaf rug.
