GPS devices are not just made for cars; motorcycle enthusiasts also can enjoy navigation on the go. There are some companies, such as Garmin, that design GPS devices specifically for motorcycles. A GPS will need to attach to the Honda Goldwing's handlebar near the clutch/brake gear. Once installed, you should fully charge the GPS before each use. If you purchased the cigarette lighter attachment, you can charge the GPS by inserting the AC adaptor into the lighter.

Instructions

  1. 1

Install the GPS mount. Different mounts will attach to the Goldwing in different ways. For example, to mount a Garmin Zumo, place the u-bolt that comes with the GPS installation kit around the Goldwing's handlebar near the clutch/brake. The opening of the u-bolt should face the driver, not out, up or down. Fit the two ends of the u-bolt into the handlbar base. The handlebar base contains a knob, which should be facing up. The arm of the GPS mount will attach to it. Then tighten the nuts on the handlebar base.

  2. 2

Remove the 1/4 or M6 screws from the Goldwing's clutch/brake clamp bracket.

  3. 3

Align the screw holes on the handlebar base with the u-bolt inserted over the screw holes of the Goldwing's clutch/brake clamp bracket.

  4. 4

Thread the new screws through the handlebar base and clamp bracket. Tighten the screws with a Philips screwdriver.

  5. 5

Attach the base plate to the GPS cradle to form the GPS mount. Several screws will secure the base plate to the back of the cradle. Tighten the screws and nuts required to secure the base plate to the cradle.

  6. 6

Attach the GPS double-socket arm to the knob on the handlebar base. The double-socket arm will have two openings on each side to attach to the handlebar base that is already secured on the Goldwing's handlebar and to the GPS base plate secured to the cradle.

  7. 7

Insert the knob on the base plate to the opening on the double-socket arm. Make sure the knob is secured and adjust it so the cradle is facing you.

  8. 8

Insert the GPS into the cradle until it is secured in the cradle.

  9. 9

Plug the GPS' AC adaptor into the Goldwing's cigarette lighter.

  10. 10

Plug the other end of the AC adaptor into the USB port on the GPS. This port might be covered by a cap to protect the outlet. If so, remove the USB port cap from the GPS with your fingers.

Tips and warnings

  • Align the screw holes of the RAM bracket to the mount. Then align the GPS cradle to the other side of the RAM bracket.
