How to change a tire on a triumph st motorcycle

Triumph's Sprint ST sport-touring motorcycle is quite capable of wearing its tires down to the core, thanks to its voracious appetite for long rides. Changing the front tire is a straightforward process, but the Sprint's unconventional single-sided rear swing arm presents a unique challenge when removing the rear wheel. While the rear wheel isn't too difficult to remove, a specialised swingarm stand is required to hoist the rear wheel off of the ground. Investing in a rear stand may not be worthwhile, unless you plan on doing all of the motorcycle's tire changes and maintenance yourself.

Loosen the front brake-caliper mounting bolts and the axle-pinch bolts on the bottom of the front fork's legs, using a 12mm socket. Loosen the front axle, using a 12mm Allen wrench. Place a front fork stand under the forks to lift the front wheel off of the ground. Unscrew the front brake caliper bolts, using a 12mm socket and pull the calipers off of the front wheel's brake rotors. Unscrew the front axle completely, using a 12mm Allen wrench. Lower the wheel away from the fork.

Pull the spring clip off of the rear axle's locknut on the rear wheel's hub. Loosen the locknut, using a 22mm socket. Lift the rear wheel off of the ground, using a single-sided swingarm stand. Unscrew the locknut by hand and remove the spacers and washer's from the wheel's hub. Pull the rear wheel off of the swingarm.

Set the wheel on a flat surface and unscrew the valve stem's Schrader core, using a Schrader core wrench, to deflate the tire.

Break the tyre's seal against the wheel with a bead breaker clamp. Push the tire down to create a gap between the wheel and the tire.

Pull the upper edge of the tire off of the wheel, using a tire iron. Pull the lower edge of the tire up against the top of the wheel. Remove the lower edge of the tire from the wheel, using a tire iron.

Hook the edge of the wheel into the bottom edge of the new tire. Press down firmly to set as much of the tire onto the wheel as possible. Lever the remaining portion of the tyre's lower edge onto the wheel, using a tire iron. Push the tyre's upper edge down against the top of the wheel. Pull the tire onto the wheel, using a tire iron.

Blow-compress air into the coreless valve stem to seal the tire against the wheel. Stop when the tire makes two popping sounds. Let the air rush out of the valve stem. Screw the Schrader core into the valve stem, using a Schrader core wrench. Fill the tire with compressed air to the desired tire pressure.

Reinstall the tire following the reverse method of removal.
