How do I Access an SD Card on a Garmin Nuvi 200W?

Updated February 21, 2017

Garmin users can update their GPS devices with additional features by purchasing SD cards from the manufacturer. An SD card is a multiplatform memory card that, when inserted into your GPS device, can provide more maps, extra guidance and different views. The Garmin Nuvi 200W will automatically recognise the SD card upon insertion.

Insert the SD card into the SD slot on the Garmin Nuvi 200W.

Power on the Garmin Nuvi. The Nuvi should automatically detect the SD card and its contents.

Press the "Where to?" option on the home screen.

Hit "Extras" and verify the title of the SD card is listed. Any contents, such as a new map, will become available when you instruct the Garmin to use information that is provided on the SD card.
