Install a water-resistant barrier that complies with the local regulations of your area. Install the barrier before installing the siding.
Set up a stable, flat work surface to cut the siding. Cut the siding to fit the measurements of your wall with manual, electric or pneumatic shears.
Install the corner posts and J channels. Cut the trim pieces to fit using the shears. Position the trim pieces and attach them with a hammer and galvanised nails.
Position 1 1/4-inch starter strips along the bottom of the wall. Check if the starter strip is level to the ground using a carpenter's level. Attach the starter strips with a hammer and galvanised nails, nailing every 24 inches into the studs.
Install the first length of siding onto the starter strip using a pneumatic tool and galvanised nails. Position the nails 3/8-inch from the edge of the siding plank.
