If you itemise your tax deductions, you will be able to deduct 50 cents for each business mile you drive in 2010, 16 cents for each mile you drive in 2010 for medical or moving purposes and 14 cents for each mile your drive "in service of charitable organisations." Your employer may also reimburse you for miles that you drive your car while on business trips. Whether it is for tax purposes or business purposes, you need a way to record the miles you drive. Make a mileage claim form and keep track of how far you drive your car.

    Open a new document on your computer's word processing program. Center your cursor and type "Mileage Claim Form," or use a similar title.

    Press the "Enter" key a few times and return your cursor back to left alignment. Bold and underline your font and type "Date," "From," "To," "Miles" and "Trip Reason." Provide plenty of space between each word.

    Press the "Enter" key a few times and return your font to normal. Use the "Underscore" key to create lines. Make horizontal lines down on your document until you reach the bottom of the page. Provide enough space between each line for you to fill in the information written in Step 2.

    Include space at the bottom of the form to add the total number of miles together. Differentiate between business miles, miles driven for medical or moving purposes and miles driven for charitable organisations (if applicable).

    Include space next to the total miles so that you can multiple the total miles by the appropriate rate. For example, you might have "Business Miles:" followed by the number; next to the number, include space to write the current tax rate (50 cents) and space to write the total deduction.

    Include a line for the user to print, date and sign the form.

    Print one copy of the form. Use this form as your template and make copies of it. Fill in the required information.
