Creating your own board book is a great idea for a personalised gift for a baby or child in your life. You can make up your own story, use your own pictures and make the board book all about the child you're giving it to. The best part about a board book is that it is sturdy and wipes clean, which means plenty of use. Using a website, you can create your own board book and give it to someone you love.

  1. 1

Go to Blank Slate Board Books (see link in Resources) and choose a package by clicking on "Orders." Packages include the board books, the labels, the software and the instructions. Submit your order and wait a few days for delivery to your home.

  2. 2

Choose a theme or story for your board book. You can use your imagination to decide how you will lay it out. Some popular ideas: first words, family members, fairy tales or nursery rhymes, or even a funny story that you made up yourself.

  3. 3

Decorate the labels as you wish. You can make your own story and draw on the labels with markers or crayons. Use bright colours and short sentences if you decide to put words in the book. Remember that board books are for young children, so they should be simple and graphic.

  4. 4

Design your board book using the included software, if you wish. With the software, you can add digital artwork to the book that you've made yourself, or add digital photos and then print directly to the included labels.

  5. 5

Stick the labels to the board book in the order that you've made up the story. Double check the order before you stick the labels to the board book as they will be permanent once they are applied to keep them more durable.
