Gadgetry and gimmicks make Batman movies, cartoons and the old television show interesting. From the utility belt to the bat-copter and bat-mobile, Batman is a gadget lover's superhero. Batman uses his version of the boomerang, the Batarang, more than any other gadget. You can make your own replica Batarang prop to add to your Batman collection.

Things you need
- Heavy plastic
- Spray acrylic
Buy heavy gauge black plastic. The plastic should be rigid enough to hold its shape in flight. The plastic should also be heavy enough to be thrown with some force. If black plastic cannot be found, use clear plastic and paint with acrylic model paint.
Draw a Batarang template on plain white paper. When drawing the Batarang pay special attention to the symmetrical uniformity of the wings. The wings and head are Batman's signature design and are the same as on his cape.
Cut out the Batarang using a hand saw. The head will be the most difficult to cut.
Sand the edges of the Batarang. The edges need to be smooth and look aerodynamic. Wet sand the edges to give them a sharper edge.
Paint Batman's logo on the Batarang. Use a reflective or glow-in-the-dark paint if possible to increase the impact of the design.
Apply clear acrylic to make the sleek new Batarang shine. The coating also protects the paint from chipping.
