A ticker tape timer, also known as a ticker timer, is a device used to measure the passage of time. Historically, ticker tape was also used to relay stock prices and other financial information.

Before becoming obsolete, ticker tape machines were used to relay information between brokers and clients. This information dealt primarily with the prices of various stocks and the amounts being traded at a given time.

Time Measurement

Ticker tape timers can also be used to measure time, much like a clock or a stopwatch. The tape is fed through a machine that marks it at predetermined intervals. The number of marks indicates the amount of time that has passed.

Ticker Tape Parades

Ticker tape parades are parades traditionally associated with the City of New York. Traditionally, ticker tape would be thrown from the windows of office buildings along the parade route. In modern times, shredded office paper is used.
