Inspire children about the story of baby Moses by featuring his story from the Bible. The story depicts a time when Egyptians were killing all the first born male Hebrew babies because the Pharaoh's prophet told him a deliverer would rise up and bring down the Egyptian empire. Moses was spared from this killing because his mother put him in a basket that floated to an Egyptian princess. Once the Egyptian saw the baby, she immediately began caring for him and raised him. You can also teach lessons about the story and read directly from the Bible before beginning the craft. Incorporating different activities with the craft can help children remember the meaning of the story.

Baby Moses Paper Craft

Help children make a paper baby basket with baby Moses inside. Draw a basket shape on brown construction paper. Glue it on a piece of white card stock paper. Draw and colour a baby on another piece of paper and cut this out. Glue the baby on the basket and then cut out a piece of blue paper to resemble a blanket and glue this on top of the baby so it hangs over the basket. Help the kids write a few scriptures from the story directly on the page.

Baby Moses Stick Basket

Help the kids construct a miniature baby Moses basket with a small baby inside. Give each child a 5-inch long baby doll wearing blue. Then help them cut out a piece of cardboard that is about 8 inches long and 4 inches wide. Help the kids create a basket around the piece of cardboard by gluing and layering sticks around the top sides and border. Continue layering the sticks until the basket is complete. Place a small piece of cloth inside each basket and put the baby doll on top of the cloth. If you can't find real sticks in your area, buy fake sticks at the craft store.

Baby Moses Drawing

Encourage the children to draw a scene from the story of Moses. Show them a Bible picture book that includes pictures from the story. The kids might want to draw a picture of Moses in a basket floating down the river or a picture of his mom holding him as a baby for the last time. They might also want to a draw a picture of the Egyptian queen finding Moses in the water.

Coffee Filter Moses Basket

Show the children how to make a coffee filter baby Moses basket. Give each child a coffee filter and help him paint it light brown. Show the kids how to draw a baby wrapped in a blanket on another piece of paper. Glue the bottom of the filter on a piece of card stock paper. The filter should fan outwards, but you might need to bend it so that it looks more like a basket. Cut out the baby that the kids made and glue this on the bottom of the coffee filter. Help the kids write scriptures from the story of Moses on available space.
