Home Remedies for Face Warts
A wart, known medically as a "verruca," is a crusty, flesh-coloured growth that can appear anywhere on the body. Common warts can exist on the fingers and toes, arms, legs and the bottom of the feet. They can also appear on the face. Warts are caused by HPV, or human papillomavirus.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is a natural acid that kills bacteria and germs around the site of the wart, eventually making it disappear. Because you are removing warts from your face, apply only to the afflicted area, and not to the rest of your face. Saturate a cotton ball in pure apple cider vinegar. Dab the cotton ball on the wart, then allow it to dry. Apply the vinegar twice more, for a total of three times per day. The wart should dry up and disappear within two weeks.
Wart Removal Cream
Most wart removal creams, like Compound W, contain salicylic acid and are available at your local grocery store or drugstore. There are other wart removal products on the market, but most involve a bandage to be placed over the wart. Because the wart is on your face, it is safer and less noticeable to rub a wart removal cream on the afflicted area twice a day, or according to the directions on your particular wart removal cream tube. If you experience redness or swelling, discontinue use.
Wait It Out
Most warts go away with time. It takes about two years for a typical wart to run its course without medication. If you have had the wart for more than a year, it may be worth sticking it out a little while longer, until the wart eventually disappears. If you have had a wart for longer than three years and it is not remedied by any of the options listed above, contact your doctor who will freeze it off with liquid nitrogen.
